The world
A television budget, spent on silhouette
Twenty-five episodes in 1997, adapted from Kentaro Miura’s manga. The animation is limited and the series never pretends otherwise: it spends what it has on held compositions, heavy ink shadow and painted backgrounds, and lets a still frame carry a scene that a richer production would have moved through.
