Tokyo Revengers: the main characters

A man going nowhere, a girl he lost in middle school, and twelve years to go back and change.

Tokyo Revengers is a delinquent show with a time machine in its pocket. We think the time leap is what makes every fistfight in it matter.

The premise – Twelve years back, one chance

Takemichi Hanagaki is twenty-six and stuck. He hears on the news that Hinata, his only girlfriend from middle school, has been killed in a gang fight.

The next day he is pushed onto the train tracks, and wakes up twelve years earlier, back in his school days.

Why it works – A coward in the toughest gang

To save Hinata, Takemichi has to climb inside the Tokyo Manji Gang, led by the small, smiling Mikey and his tall right hand, Draken.

He cannot fight, so he wins by refusing to give up, and the gang starts to notice.

The verdict – Twenty-four episodes, one jacket

LIDENFILMS adapted Ken Wakui's manga in 2021, and Official HIGE DANdism's “Cry Baby” opens it.
