An office worker wakes up in another world as a slime, makes friends with a sealed dragon, and starts a town.
Most isekai heroes want power. Rimuru wants everyone around him to have a roof and a meal, and we think that makes Slime the warmest isekai of its decade.
The premise - Reborn as the weakest monster
Satoru Mikami is a 37-year-old office worker who is stabbed on a Tokyo street. He wakes up in another world as a slime, with no eyes and a skill that lets him swallow almost anything.
In a sealed cave he meets Veldora, a storm dragon locked away for three hundred years, and the two become friends.
Why it works - A hero who builds instead of conquers
Now called Rimuru, the slime finds goblins and direwolves who need protecting, and gives them names, homes and rules to live by.
The fights matter, but the best scenes are about building a village where very different monsters can live side by side.
The verdict - Calm, funny and kind
8bit adapted Fuse's light novels in 2018, and the first season takes its time.
If you want an isekai that cares more about the people than the power, start with episode one.
