Re:Zero: Subaru, Emilia, Rem, Ram and Beatrice together in the season 4 key visual

A boy is pulled into a fantasy world with one strange gift: when he falls, time rewinds.

Most isekai heroes arrive with a cheat. Subaru Natsuki arrives with nothing but the ability to die and start over, and Re:Zero makes that the most frightening power in the genre.

The premise - Death is a checkpoint

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-: death is a checkpoint

Subaru steps out of a convenience store into another world, meets a silver-haired girl named Emilia, and tries to help her find a stolen insignia.

Then everything goes wrong, and he wakes up hours earlier, in the same street. He remembers everything. Nobody else does.

Why it works - It never stops hurting

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-: it never stops hurting

Every loop costs Subaru something, and the show lets you feel it. Each rewind is a puzzle and a wound at once.

White Fox, with director Masaharu Watanabe, gives the mansion arc a slow, creeping dread, and the maids Rem and Ram are a big part of why fans fell for it.

The verdict - Give it the double first episode

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-: give it the double first episode

The 2016 first season opens with a double-length episode and runs 25 in total, adapting Tappei Nagatsuki's light novels.

If the first rewind makes your stomach drop, you have found your next obsession.
