Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuji, Megumi, Nobara and Gojo against the curses

A student swallows a cursed finger to save his friends, and that is only his first bad decision.

Jujutsu Kaisen arrived in 2020 and quickly became one of the biggest action anime of the decade. It earns that place.

The premise - One finger, one very bad idea

JUJUTSU KAISEN: one finger, one very bad idea

Yuji Itadori is an ordinary student with extraordinary strength. To save his friends from a curse, he swallows a finger of Ryomen Sukuna, the most dangerous curse of all.

Now Sukuna lives inside him, and Yuji is sent to Tokyo Jujutsu High, where sorcerers train to hunt curses.

Why it works - Fights you can follow

Every sorcerer has a cursed technique with clear rules and a cost, so each fight is a contest of wits as much as power. MAPPA animates them with real weight.

Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer alive and a terrible teacher, steals every scene he walks into.

The verdict Start here if you like it loud

JUJUTSU KAISEN: start here if you like it loud

Twenty-four episodes in the first season, and the pace barely drops. If you want an action anime that is clever as well as loud, this is the one.

Eve's opening, “Kaikai Kitan”, is a good test: if it hooks you, the rest will too.

Where to watch
