Recommends – Delicious in Dungeon, a Fantasy Quest You Can Eat

A dungeon crawl where the party cooks the monsters, and every recipe is worked out like real food.

Most fantasy stories skip the meals. Delicious in Dungeon makes them the whole point, and somehow that turns into one of the warmest adventures in years.

The premise – No money, no food, one sister to save

Laios and his party are beaten by a red dragon deep in a dungeon, and his sister Falin is swallowed. They escape with nothing but their lives.

To reach her before it is too late, they cannot go back for supplies. So Laios proposes they eat what they find on the way down, and a dwarf named Senshi shows them how.

Why it works – Every monster is a recipe

Walking mushrooms, giant scorpions and living armour all end up in the pot, with ingredients, method and taste explained as if it were a cooking show.

Marcille the elf is horrified, Chilchuck the lock-picker just wants to get the job done, and Laios is far too excited. Studio Trigger gets a lot of comedy out of those three reactions.

The verdict – Come for the food, stay for the world

Ryoko Kui's world has rules for everything, and the jokes slowly give way to a real quest with real danger. The first season runs 24 episodes.

If you like fantasy, cooking or simply good company, this is a very easy one to start.
